Officials of the Maharashtra Cricket Association said that this statue can be unveiled on April 23 during Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday or during the World Cup to be held this year.
The special thing is that the master blaster himself has decided where Sachin’s statue will be set. For this, he reached the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with his wife Anjali. During this time, Amol Kale, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, was also at the stadium.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale said in a statement, “This will be the first statue of the Wankhede Stadium, we will decide where it will be kept. Tendulkar is Bharat Ratna and everyone knows him what he has done for cricket. As soon as he is 50 years old, he will be given a small gift from MCA. I spoke to him three weeks ago and I got his consent.
Talking to ANI, Sachin Tendulkar said, ‘ My career started from this ground. The biggest cricket moment of my life was in 2011 when we won the World Cup, I played the last match in 2013.
Sachin further explained that “ His coach Ramakant Achrekar had raised different interest in him towards cricket on this ground. After this, he decided to make a career in cricket itself. For this reason, this ground is special to them and it is a big deal to have statues here.
Statue will be put in front of the clubhouse
During this, Sachin told that his statue will be installed right in front of the clubhouse. The place is quite clear and when people come to watch the match and go, they will be able to see from the Statue.
