Buenos Aires: Diego Maradona underwent a successful operation a few days after his 60th birthday for possible brain hemorrhage. Diego Maradona’s public relations team said in a statement on Tuesday night, “It was a success and it went as expected.”
“Diego Maradona had a subdural hematoma, which means a blood clot between a membrane and the brain,” said his personal physician, Leopoldo Luke. Presenting neurologist Luke said the problem was probably caused by an accident but Maradona said he did not remember any such incident.
The veteran Argentine footballer will have to spend at least 48 hours in a private hospital. According to local media, Maradona is in the hospital with his daughters Dalma, Gianina and Jana and other relatives. Maradona was hospitalized Monday with symptoms of depression.
