Manipur: NDA ally Kuki People’s Alliance withdraws support

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh Govt has suffered a major setback. Due to the ongoing violence in the state for the last three months, a party has left the NDA alliance. According to news agency ANI, the Kuki People’s Alliance, an ally of the NDA, has withdrawn support to the N Biren Singh government in Manipur.

It is noteworthy that the Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA) has two MLAs. The Kuki People’s Alliance wrote to Governor Anusuiya Uikey and announced the withdrawal of its support.

It may be noted that the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ More than 160 people have died so far in the caste violence that broke out in the state after the event. The Meitei community constitutes about 53 percent of the population in the state and they live mainly in the Imphal Valley. At the same time, tribal communities like Naga and Kuki constitute 40 percent of the population and live mostly in the hill districts.
