The soft-firing and statements by BJP leaders united the Muslim vote. However, political experts believe that there has been political polarization on the ground in Bengal.
Not having Chief Minister face
The BJP was in a very strong position in this election. But no leader or Chief Minister’s face was equal to Mamta Didi, which became the biggest weakness for the party. BJP insiders also expressed concern over this several times. The party fought the entire election in the face of PM Narendra Modi.
Trust in external leaders
The Bengal assembly election was the biggest battle for the BJP after winning 19 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. For which he needed the grassroots and big faces of the state. For this, the party made a dent in other parties and turned many big leaders of Trinamool on its side. The biggest name among these is Suvendu Adhikari, who was close to Mamta. The BJP had said that by May 2, the TMC would be completely cleared. At the same time, CM Mamta Banerjee accused the BJP of horse-trading. Mamta projects in such a way that her loved ones betrayed him because she was dishonest. Analysts say Didi got a big benefit from this bet.
Annoyed his leaders
Before the Bengal Assembly elections, the BJP took the leaders of other parties to its ground for strengthening the ground. Also gave tickets on a large scale. Due to this, the BJP annoyed its leaders. There were also reports of dissatisfaction in the Bengal BJP unit at the time of ticket distribution. The office of the BJP was ransacked in many places.
Silent voters did not support
Silent voters did not vote for the BJP. In fact, after the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had described the women of the country as the silent voter of the BJP. But this votebank of the party did not work in Bengal. The main reason is believed to be that the women did not like to inform the PM repeatedly by calling Mamta, Didi o Didi. The Trinamool made it an issue.
