Maliwal faces refusal from Biren government over Manipur trip

New Delhi: Today on the Manipur case, DCW chief Swati Maliwal said, she has written to the Manipur government that she wants to visit the state and meet the victims of sexual assault. At the same time, he also told that in this regard he has received a letter from the Manipur government, where he has suggested Swati to postpone her visit as the law and order situation in the state is not good.

Talking to the media in this regard, Swati Maliwal said that, I have written to the Manipur government that I want to visit the state and meet the victims of sexual harassment. I have received a letter from the Government of Manipur in which the State Government has suggested me to postpone my visit as the law and order situation in the State is not good. I want to go to Manipur only to help the victims. I am appealing to the state government to allow me to go to Manipur and make arrangements for my travel to the relief camps where these victims are staying.

Swati Maliwal said that, I have decided to go to Manipur and I am appealing to the state government not to stop me but to make such arrangements that I can meet the victims of sexual assault so that we can reach out to them and provide all possible help.

She also told that, if such cases come from these states, then I will also visit Rajasthan and West Bengal. I am visiting Manipur as a social worker and to ensure that the people there get help. I assure the Manipur government that I am not going to create any problem there.

Please inform that in Manipur, 6 accused have been arrested so far in the case of stripping two women on the road. And one of them is a minor. On the other hand, on the day of this incident i.e. on May 4, two more girls were gang-raped and murdered. Whose age was 21 and 24 years. The incident took place in Kangpokpi district. The complaint of the case was registered on 16 May. The bodies of these two have not been recovered by the police till now.
