Koderma: At the Kodarma Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand, 4 people died after a lift wire broke, while 20 people got trapped above an under-construction chimney. Later all of them were rescued and brought down safely. According to the information, 4 people including the Project Head, 2 Engineers of a company named Srivijaya lost their lives in this accident. During the construction of the chimney, the wire of the temporary lift broke, 4 people died in it.

The deceased were identified as Krishna Prasad Kodali, 42, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, project head of Srivijaya Company, Vinod Choudhary, 50, a project officer from Nagpur, an engineer Karthik Sagar, 30, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, and Naveen Kumar, a 30-year-old safety officer, a resident of Gaya, Bihar.

According to the information, project head Krishna Prasad along with his colleagues was inspecting the work in the flue gas desulfurization area in the under-construction chimney at a height of about 120 feet. During this, all four people fell down and were seriously injured due to the breaking of the lift wire. Two of these people died on the spot after a while, while two people died on reaching Koderma Sadar Hospital.

After the incident, the entry of any media person inside the Koderma Thermal Power Station was banned. According to the information received from the sources, around 20 laborers were trapped at a height of about 120 feet in the chimney under construction after the lift wire broke. The district administration and DVC brought everyone down safely after about 10 hours of effort. The district administration and the plant administration have kept silent on the accident.

Union Minister of State for Education and local MP Annapurna Devi has expressed grief over the incident in Koderma. He tweeted, ‘Sad news has been received of the death of 4 workers in the accident at Koderma Thermal Power Plant. May the Lord give peace to the departed souls and strength to their families to bear the loss. Talking to the DVC chairman, inquired about the accident.
