New Delhi: The Central Government has officially handed over Air India to Tata Sans. After which Air India has come back to its home after 69 years. It was handed over to Air India in a meeting between the Central Government and Tata Sans on Thursday. Earlier, Tata Chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed happiness that, “We are committed to making Air India a world-class airline.

Commenting on Air India’s return home, Tata Sans President said, “We are absolutely delighted that this process has been completed and we are delighted to have Air India back in the Tata Group. We look forward to working with everyone to build a world-class airline.”

While issuing its statement, Tata Group said, “Tata Group is fully aware of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to reforms and faith in India’s entrepreneurial spirit.”

Before re-inducting Air India into its fleet, Tata Sans chief N Chandrasekaran met Prime Minister Modi. The meeting happened before Air India Express was officially acquired by the Tata group. Later Chandrasekaran also visited Air India Headquarters. A photo of Modi and Chandrasekaran’s meeting was shared on Twitter, quoting the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and said, “Tata Sons President N. Chandrasekaran met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Tata bought again for 18 thousand crores
The Tata group had in October last year entered into a bid with Air India Express to acquire a 50 percent stake in Air India and AISATS. It is worth noting that Tata Group’s holding company Tales Pvt Ltd on October 8, 2021, had made a bid of Rs 18,000 crore for the acquisition of debt-ridden Air India.
