Ujjain: The world-famous Mahakal Temple situated in Ujjain, the religious city of Madhya Pradesh, will also glow like gold. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country, about 250 kg of gold will be put on the shikhara and Sanctorum of this temple. With this, Mahakal Temple will also be included in the category of Somnath, Tirupati Balaji, and Shirdi’s Sai Mandir. The work of gold plating in the temple is about to begin, which will take 8 years. Two traders have pioneered this.

The world famous Mahakaleshwar temple will also now glow like a Golden Temple. Gold is being plastered on its pinnacle and womb. According to the temple’s chief priest Raman Trivedi, a businessman from Ujjain and a diamond merchant from Mumbai have pioneered the gold and marble sanctum of the Mahakal temple. Earlier, a businessman from Mumbai had donated gold in the Somnath Temple and Badrinath Temple in a similar manner. Now the intention of the businessman is that the famous Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain should also be studded with gold. A framework has been created for this.

Estimate ready
Estimates have also been prepared by sending artisans to the temple. It has been told that about 250 kg of gold can be used in this whole work. Out of this, 200 kg will be installed on the top and 50 kg in the sanctum sanctorum. After talking to the traders, the Golden Shikhar Ascent Resolution Committee of Ujjain has now asked to send this proposal to Mahakal Temple Committee soon. After that, the work of putting gold on the peaks will start as soon as the final seal is signed by the Ujjain Collector.

Target of 2028
The work of shining the shikhara and sanctum sanctorum of Mahakal temple with gold will begin, which may take 8 years to complete. Before 2028, the shikhara and womb of Mahakal temple will be overlaid with about 250 kg of gold. However, even before this, Shikhar was gold studded on the summit of Mahakal temple, in which Congress President Sonia Gandhi also donated gold for the summit.
