Kinetic Green Zulu

Kinetic Green, an electric vehicle (EV) maker, has launched the new Zulu electric scooter in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹95,000. The Zulu is the latest offering from the Kinetic brand, which was once a household name in the Indian two-wheeler market with its Kinetic Honda range of scooters in the 1990s. The Zulu marks the brand’s revival in a new avatar, with an eco-friendly and futuristic electric powertrain.

Design and Features
The Zulu electric scooter has a sleek and sporty design that appeals to a wide range of customers. The front apron features an LED headlamp, while the daytime running light (DRL) is mounted on the handlebar stalk. The scooter has a digital instrument cluster that displays speed, battery level, range, and other information. The Zulu also comes with a USB charging port, a keyless start system, and a smart app that allows the user to track the scooter’s location, performance, and service history.

The Zulu has a spacious and comfortable seat, with a storage compartment under it. The scooter also has a luggage hook and a rear carrier for additional convenience. The Zulu is available in four colors: red, blue, black, and white.

Dimensions and Specifications
The Zulu electric scooter has a length of 1,830 mm, a width of 715 mm, and a height of 1,135 mm. The wheelbase is 1,360 mm, and the ground clearance is 160 mm. The scooter weighs 93 kgs and can carry a maximum load of 150 kgs.

The Zulu is powered by a 2.27 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is coupled with a hub electric motor. The motor produces a peak power of 2.8 bhp. The battery pack can be charged in 4 hours using a standard 5A socket, or in 2 hours using a fast charger. The EV maker claims that the Zulu can run for up to 104 kms on a single charge, and can achieve a top speed of 60 kmph.

The Zulu has a telescopic suspension at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The braking system consists of disc brakes at both the front and the rear wheels. The scooter also has a regenerative braking feature that helps to extend the battery life.

Pricing and Competition
The Zulu electric scooter is priced at ₹95,000 (ex-showroom), which includes the cost of the battery pack. However, the customers also have the option to buy the scooter without the battery at ₹69,999 and subscribe to a battery service plan that charges a monthly fee based on the usage. The EV maker says that this will help reduce the customers’ upfront cost and maintenance expenses.

The Zulu electric scooter faces competition from other electric scooters in the Indian market, such as the Ola S1 X+, the Okinawa PraisePro, and the Ather 450X. The Zulu aims to differentiate itself with its legacy, design, and performance.

The Zulu electric scooter will go on sale in early 2024, and the EV maker hopes to sell ten lakh electric vehicles in the next five years. Kinetic Green also has plans to launch more electric scooters in the future, such as the e-Luna and another high-performance model. The EV maker has also partnered with Lamborghini, the Italian supercar giant, to manufacture electric golf carts in India that will be exported to global markets. Kinetic Green’s founder and CEO, Salujja Firodia Motwani, said that the company is committed to providing affordable and sustainable mobility solutions to Indian customers.
