New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi moved the Supreme Court on Friday against the ordinance brought by the Center regarding the right of transfer posting of officers.

The Kejriwal government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding an immediate stay on the ordinance brought by the central government. He said that this ordinance is unconstitutional.

Earlier on May 19, the Modi government at the Center had issued an ordinance taking over the transfer and posting of IAS and its equivalent officers in the national capital. At the same time, this move of the Center was called by the Arvind Kejriwal government a violation of the apex court’s decision on the control of services. A few days before this ordinance was promulgated by the Centre, the Supreme Court had handed over the control of police, law and order, and all other services except land to the Delhi government.

Arvind Kejriwal sought the support of opposition parties
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also met leaders of several opposition parties against this ordinance. Many opposition leaders including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin have agreed to support the Aam Aadmi Party.
