Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut, along with director Karan Johar, was today honored with the Padma Shri 2020 Award, the country’s fourth-highest civilian award. To receive this award, these celebs were present at the award ceremony to be held in New Delhi today. The award was announced on 26 January last year. But due to the coronavirus epidemic and lockdown, the honor ceremony could not be organized yet. These personalities were awarded the Padma Shri for their contribution in the field of performance arts.
Shortly before, director Karan Johar was honored with the Padma Shri 2020 Award. The Government of India had already sent invitations to Kangana Ranaut, Ekta Kapoor, and Karan Johar to receive the Padma Shri award. Along with Ekta Kapoor, her father and veteran actor Jeetendra will also attend this honor ceremony. For this, he has completed all the formalities.
Kangana Ranaut has also expressed her happiness on receiving the award on her Insta story. Kangana has already won the National Award 4 times. On receiving the Padma Shri award, Kangana Ranaut said last year, “I am happy, and I am honored. I thank my country for this honor and I dedicate it to every woman who dares to dream. To every daughter…to every mother…and to the dreams of the women who will shape the future of our country.”
At the same time, after the Padma Shri award was announced, director-producer Ekta Kapoor expressed happiness on Twitter, writing, “I started in the industry when I was just 17 years old. I constantly heard that I was ‘too young’, ‘too raw’, and that it was ‘too early’ to get things done. Over the years I have realized that it is never ‘too soon’ to fulfill your dreams and being ‘too young’ is probably the best thing. Today, as I have been honored with the fourth highest civilian honor- ‘Padma Shri’, I am happy.”
