ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s march has been halted for a day after a Pakistani woman journalist was crushed to death by being crushed under his container during his ‘Haqiki Azadi March’. The deceased journalist has been identified as ‘Channel 5’ reporter Sadaf Naeem, after this tragic accident, the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party stopped the march for a day.

Khan said, “We are ending today’s march due to an accident. We have decided to stay here.” Khan expressed his condolences to the woman journalist’s family and said that he would pray for her soul to rest in peace. The ‘Hakiki Azadi March’ will now start from Kamoke on the fourth day on Monday. Earlier it was to reach Gujranwala only at the end of the third day.

According to the news of Geo News, Sadaf has been crushed by the container in which Imran Khan was traveling, although this has not been confirmed. According to the news on Duniya TV, Sadaf was trying to interview Khan for her TV channel. At the same time, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the death of the journalist.

The prime minister announced Rs5 million financial aid for her family and ordered authorities to immediately complete the regulation process and hand over the amount to her family.

He tweeted that Sadaf Naeem was a very lively and hardworking reporter. He said that he would pray for the soul of the deceased and the bereaved family. Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has also condoled the death of Sadaf and questioned how the journalist died after being crushed by Khan’s container.

“I knew him (Sadaf) personally. She was a hard-working journalist and it was a shock to die while trying to interview Khan.”
