Washington: US President Joe Biden’s woes are not ending. His son Hunter Biden has been found guilty of criminal charges for lying to a gun dealer to buy a firearm. Hunter Biden has been under investigation for a long time in this case.
This comes after the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, had earlier announced an impeachment inquiry against US President Joe Biden. However, with his son Hunter’s conviction, his troubles seem to have increased further.
According to the news agency, this is the first criminal case filed in the US District Court in Delaware against the son of a sitting president. Hunter Biden has been charged with using illegal drugs at the time, which could have disqualified him from owning a firearm.
These charges indicate that this legal drama will have a big impact on the 2024 US presidential campaign, as 80-year-old Joe Biden will be contrasted with his 77-year-old Republican predecessor Donald Trump, who is himself facing four criminal cases.
According to news agency ANI, the Justice Department has convicted US President’s son Hunter Biden on 3 counts of drug addiction and illegal gun possession. Hunter Biden could also face up to 25 years in prison in this case. He has many other cases against him.
Hunter Biden is 53 years old and he also faces a fraud case. He may also face tax fraud and illegal foreign lobbying cases. Hunter Biden is also accused of lying about drugs in 2018 when he purchased a Colt Cobra revolver. He had confessed to drug abuse himself.
Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday also approved the launch of an impeachment inquiry against President Biden. According to foreign media reports, McCarthy has instructed House committees to start a formal impeachment investigation against President Biden. Biden is accused of benefiting his son Hunter Biden in foreign business while he was the Vice President of America from 2009 to 2017. The White House has opposed the impeachment inquiry.
