New Delhi: Jeep will introduce the Jeepster on Thursday, 8 September. Which will be the smallest offering in Jeep’s global line-up and will be placed below the Jeep Renegade. Jeep will also showcase some electric SUV concepts at the 4xe Day event, while the new Jeep Jeepster SUV will debut globally at the Paris Motor Show 2022 in October this year.
Powertrain
What has been confirmed ahead of the official announcement is that the Jeep Jeepster SUV will come with full electric (BEV) and petrol mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrains on a few variants with the brand’s electronic all-wheel drive (EAWD), while the front-end EV and Wheel drive will remain standard on the MHEV powertrain variants. While not much information has been revealed about the EV powertrain.
CMP Platform
The upcoming Jeep will be based on the second generation ECMP/Common Modular Platform (CMP) of the Jeepster Atlantis. The eCMP platform is a variant of the CMP, which is also used on the Citroen C3 in India.
How’s the look?
An ‘E’ logo will be used to emphasize the electric credentials of the model. The MHEV variant will also come with a closed off-grill and ventilation for the engine will be done through a vent in the front bumper. The headlamps seem to have a split design, with the LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) located above the main headlamps.
The Compass 4xe, on the other hand, gets a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces either 190hp or 240hp depending on the state of the tune. The Compass 4xe gets all-wheel drive thanks to a rear-axle electric motor.
The Renegade 4Xe is available in three trims – Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. All three get an electric motor paired with a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 270Nm of torque. However, while the Trailhawk gets 240hp, the other two trims get 190hp.
