Srinagar: The detention of Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has been extended. According to the information, Mehbooba Mufti will be under house arrest for 3 more months. Mehbooba Mufti was under house arrest from August 5, 2019, with the abolition of Article 370 (Article-370), which gave special state status in Jammu and Kashmir last year. Recently, Mehbooba Mufti had approached the court for release.
According to an order issued by the Home Department, the Mufti will remain under house arrest for three months in its official residence Fairview Bungalow, which has been declared as a Subsidiary Jail. Recently, Mehbooba Mufti was shifted to a government residence. However, she was not exempted from the Public Safety Act and she will remain imprisoned in her house till further orders.

On one hand the administration has increased the detention of Mehbooba Mufti, on the other hand the leader of the People’s Conference Sajad Lone (Sajad Lone) has been released from custody on Friday. Lone himself informed about his release by tweeting.
Whereabouts have been changing during detention
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was also taken into preventive custody by the state administration on the morning of August 5, 2019, before the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act with other prominent leaders of the state. The first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was first kept at Hari Niwas. He was then placed in a government guest house in Chashma Shahi. Thereafter, during the month of November, he was kept in preventive custody in a government guest house located on Transport Lane, a short distance from Lalchok. During the month of February, the state administration imprisoned him under the Public Safety Act.
Many leaders were under house arrest
The government abolished the provisions of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. During this time, the government had taken all the leaders in custody there. At that time former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and many other politicians were also detained. Recently, other leaders were also released from custody, including many leaders including Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
