
Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. A police officer said that on the basis of information about the presence of militants in Amshipora of Shopian in South Kashmir, security forces surrounded the area and started a search operation there.

He said that during this time, the terrorists started firing on the security forces, after which the forces also retaliated. The officer said three militants were killed in the encounter. He said that the identity of the terrorists has not been identified and it is yet to be ascertained from which terrorist group they belonged. The official said that the operation is going on in the area. Earlier, three militants, including a self-styled top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed, were killed on Friday in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
