Jerusalem: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel Prime Minister appeared in Jerusalem’s Court on Monday to formally respond to corruption charges against him. General elections are to be held here after a few weeks.
Netanyahu was accused of cheating, betrayal and bribery in three separate cases last year. In recent months, the people of Israel have gathered in large numbers and are demonstrating every weekend demanding the resignation of Netanyahu, who is besieged by corruption charges. Critics say that Netanyahu did not deal with the Corona virus crisis properly.
A large number of people gathered outside the court even during Netanyahu’s appearance. It is alleged that he accepted expensive gifts from his rich friends and offered to benefit the veterans of the media sector in exchange for showing news in favor of himself and his family.
Netanyahu will be the first prime minister to rule Israel for the longest time, having been charged with corruption charges while in office. Netanyahu has denied all allegations. He has also refused to resign from the post. The case against him started in May last year.
