
Mumbai: The Indian Cricket Board has made a big announcement regarding the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. News agency ANI said on information received from BCCI sources that, “IPL 2022 will be held in India only. It will happen in Mumbai and without taking any spectators.”
A senior board official told the agency that, “IPL 2022 will be organized in India with no spectators. The likely venue is Wankhede Stadium. Simultaneously, if necessary, the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai and DY Patil Stadium in Pune will also be used.
IPL player registration closed on January 20 and a total of 1,214 players (896 Indians and 318 foreigners) have signed up to be a part of the 2022 player auction. In the two-day mega auction, 10 teams will bid for some of the best talents in world cricket. The list of players includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 associate players.

The detailed list is as follows: Capped Indian (61 players), Capped International (209 players), Associate (41 players), Uncapped Indians who were part of the last IPL season (143 players), Uncapped Internationals who were part of the last IPL season ( 6 players), Uncapped Indian (692 players), and Uncapped International (62 players). The IPL auction is to be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
