New Delhi: Foxconn, the largest contract manufacturer of iPhone, is going to set up a plant in Bengaluru. Foxconn was in talks with the Karnataka government for this. Finally, the Karnataka government has cleared the way for the Foxconn company to set up this plant. The Karnataka government has approved the iPhone manufacturing project to be built with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore. The state high-level committee headed by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has approved the mobile phone manufacturing unit of Foxconn. The government estimates that this will create around 50,000 jobs.

Foxconn’s new plant will be built on a 300-acre site near the Bengaluru International Airport. The biggest manufacturing plant of this company is going to be set up in India. This is expected to generate around 1 lakh jobs in the next 10 years. A delegation led by Young Liu, chairman of Foxconn, visited Bangalore. During these discussions, an agreement was reached between the company and the state government. Foxconn is keen to expand production in India. There is a huge demand for iPhones in the domestic smartphone market.

Apart from this, iPhones made in India are also exported to international markets. Apart from China, India is also playing an important role in the global supply chain. Foxconn currently has units in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Now the name of Bengaluru city is also going to be added to it. The committee has approved proposals worth Rs 75,394 crore with 10 fresh, 5 expanded, and 3 additional investments. The state government believes that this will generate 77,606 new jobs.
