London: World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tredos Adnam Ghebreyesus has admitted in a private conversation with a European leader that the coronavirus was leaked from the Wuhan lab in China. According to the report in the Daily Mail, the head of WHO has said this during a conversation with a leader of Europe. He expressed the possibility that there may have been an accident in the Wuhan lab from where the virus spread. The WHO has always avoided publicly accepting the fact that the coronavirus leaked from the Wuhan lab in China.

The Director-General of WHO had publicly said a few days ago that it is not yet known where this virus originated and how it came to humans. It is very important to recognize the origin of the virus so that such epidemics can be avoided in the future. But morally it is our responsibility to find out its origin, he said. This responsibility is towards the people who get infected with corona, people who lost their lives due to infection, and their families. The longer it takes to get to know it, the more difficult it becomes to know about it.

This virus came from bats to humans
How the coronavirus infection started, remains a matter of political and scientific debate. Many scientists around the world insist that this virus came from bats to humans. Many say that it has been leaked from the lab. The WHO had said in the initial assessment that it was unlikely that the coronavirus may have leaked from a lab, but later said that its report was flawed and ordered a re-examination.

Donald Trump had been blaming China for the corona infection
China has been rejecting the theory of the virus leaking from one of its labs since the early time of the virus infection spreading. He even once claimed that this virus spread everywhere in America. Former US President Donald Trump had been blaming China for the infection of the coronavirus and he used to call it the virus of China.

China is not cooperating in investigating the origin of coronavirus
In a recently released report, the expert panel set up by the WHO in 2021 said that there is no significant data available to know about the onset of corona infection. The report, however, raised the possibility that the virus came from animals, especially bats, to humans. The report, however, did not rule out the possibility that the virus could be the result of a lab leak. WHO experts have been raising the point that China is not cooperating in investigating the origin of the coronavirus.
