Washington: America is continuously helping Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia. There is news that once again US is going to help Ukraine in a big way. The Biden administration is planning to send advanced electronic equipment kits to Ukraine. This advanced electronic device converts aerial weapons into ‘smart bombs’. It can easily target Russian military targets with a high degree of accuracy.

According to the Washington Post report, this advanced electronic equipment kit includes a global positioning device for accuracy and can be mounted on different types of weapons. It is called the Pentagon Joint Direct Attack Munition or JDAM. It is known that the US Army has used this technique on bombs up to 2,000 pounds. Usually, it is included with bomber planes and fighter planes.

At the moment it is not clear whether US President Joe Biden or any of his top national security advisors have approved the proposed ‘smart bomb’ to Ukraine. But the Washington Post has reported this by quoting sources. The Ukrainian air force relies mainly on Soviet-era MiG jets, and the Pentagon has sought technologies to advance them rather than provide new Western aircraft.

What is a ‘smart bomb’
Smart bombs are also called smart missiles. It specializes in precision-guided targets. Like a regular bomb, a smart bomb also falls on the target by the force of gravity. But its wings have control surfaces that move in response to guidance commands, making adjustments to the angle of fall or direction of fall of the bomb. Smart bombs and missiles enable small aircraft and small numbers of aircraft to conduct successful attacks on stationary targets such as buildings, fortifications or bridges. These targets can be destroyed with a smart bomb, using fewer and larger explosive warheads than the ‘scatter’ or ‘carpet’ bombing techniques of World War II.
