Islamabad: In a similar case, a former Pakistani ambassador has been accused of selling the building of the country’s high commission in Indonesia in a similar manner. A former army officer who was Pakistan’s ambassador to Indonesia sold the embassy building there. This was revealed in the investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The NAB has filed a lawsuit against the retired Ambassador, Major General Syed Mustafa Anwar, including the evidence in court.

Pakistan’s Anti-Corruption Organization said in the application before the court, “The illegal transaction caused a loss of about $ 1.32 million (ten crore Indian rupees) to the Pakistani exchequer.” The building was sold in Jakarta in 2001–2002. It is learned that soon after being appointed ambassador to Indonesia, Mustafa started trying to sell the embassy building.

Advertisements were published in Indonesian newspapers without permission from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry for this. When the deal was reached, Mustafa wrote to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry to inform him. When the Foreign Ministry questioned the Ambassador regarding this illegal deal, he did not give a satisfactory answer even after being asked many times.

The NAB has filed a court case against Mustafa, accusing him of misuse of rights. According to sources, NAB also kept the investigation of the case hanging. When the Supreme Court intervened in the case and sought detailed information from the NAB, it investigated and filed the case report in the Supreme Court and has now filed a petition in the lower court.
