Beirut: Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the terrorist group Hezbollah, said on Saturday that his group would respond to any future Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon. A day before this, Hezbollah had fired several rockets towards Israel. Nasrallah said it would be wrong to assume that Hezbollah would stop in Lebanon because of internal differences or the country’s poor economic situation. Nasrallah’s remarks came a day after his group fired rockets at Israel, calling it a response to Israeli airstrikes on south Lebanon.

The Lebanese border has been under attack for three consecutive days. The Lebanese border is a major site of conflict in West Asia, where tensions between Israel and Iran remain high. Iran supports Hezbollah. Nasrallah, in a televised speech marking the 15th anniversary of the end of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, said, “Any Israeli Air Force airstrikes on Lebanon will be responded to appropriately because we want to defend our country.” Don’t miscalculate by saying that Hezbollah is busy with Lebanon’s problems.”

The Hezbollah leader said the rocket fire was a “clear message”. He said Hezbollah fired 20 rockets in the open field as Israel also carried out airstrikes in the open field on Thursday. Lebanon is facing the worst economic and financial crisis in its modern history. Israel estimated Hezbollah has more than 130,000 rockets and missiles and is capable of carrying out strikes anywhere in the country. “We always say we don’t want war, but we are ready for it,” Nasrallah said. In his speech, the Hezbollah leader strongly criticized the judge who investigated last year’s explosion at a port in Beirut that killed and injured many. Nasralla said Judge Tariq Bitar’s work was inspired by “politics”.
