New York: Sumner Redstone, the media entrepreneur who led Viacom CBS Inc. for decades, passed away. He was 97. Redstone created this company through the aggressive buying of other companies and created a media empire. But his name was much more in the news for breaking ties with his wives, artists and officials. He said in many interviews, “He will never die.”

His strong hold on the National Amusement Theater chain through the voting share rights over CBS Corp and Viacom Inc. was later transferred to his daughter Shari Redstone, who in 2006 re-merged the split company Fought with top officials.

It is noteworthy that his son Brent Redstone once sued his father for breaking up his media empire. Redstone was married twice, but they divorced both times. Under his supervision, Viacom reached new heights among media companies of the country. He told Upstart Business in 2009, “I always intend to survive.”
