Washington: Aftab Pureval (Aftab Pureval), an Indian American man from the Democratic Party and a lawyer by profession, has submitted his candidacy for the post of mayor of Cincinnati. Purewal confirmed his candidature for the post of Mayor by tweeting on 14 January. He tweeted, ‘Our country is going through a difficult time and our city too, and that is why I am presenting my candidacy for the next Mayor of Cincinnati.’ According to the local newspaper, The Enquirer, in 1980, Puruwal’s parents had moved from India to Genia, Ohio. He lost the congressional race in 2018.
The newspaper quoted him as saying in his news, ‘The truth is that the families are really struggling. Our city is going through a difficult time and the progress of the last decade is at stake. After Covid-19, we have to start again to boost our economy.
On the other hand, preparations are being made for the arrival of the new government in the country on 20 January. Newly elected President Joe Biden will take oath at the inauguration ceremony. Joe Biden won with record votes in elections held in November last year, while Donald Trump accused of fraud in elections. Even Trump supporters had attacked the country’s parliament on 6 January.
