Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan has been kept in Attock Jail in Punjab province after being sentenced to three years in the Toshakhana case. Imran Khan was brought by road and lodged in Attock Jail. Earlier speculations were being made that Imran Khan would be kept in Adiala Jail, where all the comforts would be present. But at the last moment, he was taken to Attock jail and kept.

Attock Jail was built during the British rule
Attock Jail was constructed during 1905-06 during British rule. This jail is spread over an area of some 67 acres. In the era of the British rulers, the people involved in the rebellion were kept captive in this jail. This jail is on the banks of the Indus River. According to reports, this jail has the capacity to hold 539 prisoners, but currently, 804 prisoners are kept here.

These political personalities had to go to stuck jail
From time to time, many leaders and eminent personalities of Pakistan have been kept as prisoners in this jail. In the year 1999, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also kept in this jail. At the same time, those who rebelled against former President General Zia-ul-Haq were also kept in this jail. People’s Party leader Asif Ali Zardari was also in this jail. Muslim League Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi was also a prisoner in this jail for some time.
