Alcohol test mandatory for PIA staff from 14 February

Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines has made alcohol testing mandatory for its cabin crew. The announcement has been made in view of the European Union’s Security Check for Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) program. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has decided to start an investigation into the consumption of alcohol during the inspection. PIA has issued a notification regarding this. This test will be compulsory from 14 February.

According to the news of Dawn newspaper, the notification said that if the amount of alcohol in the breath is 0.2 grams or less in a liter or whatever is lower than the standard of the country, the test will be considered negative. If any crew member refuses to do it, it will be considered a positive test and then legal and departmental action will be taken.

Earlier, the PIA issued a fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the disappearance of an employee of two different flights and an airhostess in torrents. Under this, the passport of the staff will now be deposited on going to other countries and will be given only while returning. Due to the disappearance of staff in other countries, the airline is getting very dirty. In view of this, new rules have been made. PIA General Manager Flight Services Aamir Bashir has issued this notification. A PIA spokesperson has said that the disappearance of staff has been reported to the Immigration Authority of Canada.
