Barcelona, Spain: A fire in a building in Badalona, northeast Spain, scorched at least 17 people, two of whom are in critical condition. Some people were living illegally in this building. Firemen reported on Wednesday night that they took out about 30 people from the building’s windows.
Fire Department head David Burrell said the roof collapsed before firefighters could confirm the building was vacant, making it impossible to continue the search operation as the fire had not been extinguished by then. Officials anticipated that it would take several more hours to extinguish the fire. Javier Garcia Albiol, Mayor of Badalona, said more than 100 people were living illegally in the building, of which 60 have been detected.
