New Delhi: Instagram, the popular photo and video-sharing platform owned by Meta, has experienced two major outages in the past week, leaving millions of users unable to access their feeds, stories, and reels.
The first outage occurred on July 20, when Instagram went down for several hours across the world. Users reported seeing blank screens, error messages, and loading issues on the app and the website. Meta did not disclose the reason for the outage but said it was working to fix it as soon as possible.
The second outage happened on July 24, when Instagram again faced problems with loading posts and stories. Users took to Twitter and other social media platforms to complain about the disruption, using hashtags such as #instagramdown and #instadown. According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service issues, more than 150 users in India reported problems with Instagram on Saturday night.
This is not the first time that Instagram has faced technical glitches this year. In May, June, and March, the app also suffered outages that affected users in various regions. Meta’s other platforms, such as Facebook and WhatsApp, have also experienced similar issues in the past.
Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps in the world, with over one billion monthly active users. It is widely used by celebrities, influencers, businesses, and ordinary people to share photos, videos, and stories. The app also offers features such as reels, IGTV, live video, and shopping.

The frequent outages have frustrated many Instagram users, who rely on the app for communication, entertainment, and income. Some users have expressed their dissatisfaction with Meta’s handling of the situation, while others have joked about switching to other platforms or finding other hobbies.
