New Delhi: Scientists have forecast that in India, the population may increase to around 1.9 billion in 2048, and then in 2100, it may decrease by 32 percent to about 1.06 billion. The study, published in the journal The Lancet, used data taken from the ‘Global Burden of Disease Study’ and global, regional, and national populations, their mortality, birth rates for 183 countries, including India, the United States, China, and Japan. And the forecast of migration rate was expressed.
According to the researchers, in countries such as India and China, the working population can dramatically decrease and thereby affect economic growth and change the global balance of power. He said that by the end of this century, the world could become multipolar and India, Nigeria, China and America could be effective powers. Scientists said, “This will be a new world in truth.”
According to the study, the population of working-age adults in India was 76.2 million in 2017, which will come down to around 57.8 crore in 2100. Similarly, the population of working-age adults in China was 95 crore in 2017, which will come down to 35.7 crore in 2100. The scientists noted that India could overtake China in terms of manpower population in the middle of 2020 and rise from seventh to third in terms of GDP growth.
