Washington: India’s Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu has expressed the hope that Indian professionals will continue to be welcomed in his country as his talent has contributed to the country’s economy.

Sandhu discussed various important issues in a meeting with the Ohio Province Governor Mike De Wine in a video conference. There was also talk of a possible synergy in the field of higher education and technology, where India’s talents can contribute significantly.

“During the meeting, Sandhu said that Indian talent has contributed significantly to the US economy and hoped that Indian professionals would continue to be welcomed in the US,” said the statement issued by the Indian embassy.

In June, President Donald Trump banned workers from certain categories of visas from entering the US until the end of the year. However, waivers in some categories of visas were announced this week. During Sandhu’s meeting with De Vine, issues such as business, investment and people-to-people contact were discussed.

“During their talks, strong business, investment and mutual interaction of people and agreement in areas of economic importance were also discussed,” the statement said. Sandhu and Day Vine also underscored the presence of more than one lakh members of the Indian community in Ohio, including professionals and students. He also appreciated the contribution of Dr. Ratan Lal, an Indian scientist at Ohio State University.
