Indian mountaineer missing in Nepals Mount Annapurna

Kathmandu: An Indian mountaineer went missing on Monday below Camp III of Mount Annapurna in Nepal. He fell into a crevice while returning from Camp IV this afternoon. The climber has been identified as Anurag Malu, a resident of Kishangarh, Rajasthan. The search operation is on.

An Indian climber, Anurag Malu, 34, has gone missing below Camp III of Annapurna Mountain in Nepal, said Mingma Sherpa, president of Seven Summit Treks. The search operation is on. He fell into a crevice while returning from Camp IV this afternoon

The Sherpa said that an aerial search has been launched to trace the missing climber Anurag. His status is still unknown. Anurag abandoned his climb after reaching Camp IV.

Malu went missing after falling nearly 6,000 meters while descending from Camp III. He is yet to be found. It is being told that he is missing since morning. At present the search operation is going on.

Anurag is on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8000 meters and seven summits to create awareness towards achieving the United Nations Global Goals.

Anurag Malu successfully scaled Mount Ama Dablam last year and was planning to scale Mount Everest, Annapurna, and Lhotse which are located in Nepal this season.

Malu was previously awarded the REX Karmaveer Chakra and became the 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador from India. Indian media reports state that he took the guidance and advice of renowned mountaineer Bachendri Pal to climb the mountains.
