Port of Spain: The third match of the 5-match series was played between India and West Indies (India vs West Indies 3rd T20 Match) on Tuesday. India won the match by 7 wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The hero of the third match was Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav. Playing brilliant innings, he scored 76 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 172.72. During this, Yadav hit eight fours and four brilliant sixes. Suryakumar was adjudged ‘Player of the Match for this stormy innings.
Batting first, West Indies scored 164 for 5 wickets. West Indies batsman Kyle Meyers scored a half-century. India achieved the target given by West Indies in 19 overs. However, the Indian team also suffered a setback during the match. Captain Rohit Sharma retired hurt after scoring just 11 runs.
Chasing the target given by West Indies, the Indian team started well. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 11 runs in 5 balls. During this, a four and a six came off his bat. But he retired hurt due to his hamstring, then the team’s score was 19 runs. After this Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer shared a half-century partnership while playing a stormy inning. Myers struck a 50-ball 73 with eight fours and four sixes, besides putting on 57 for the first wicket with Brandon King (20) and 50 for the second wicket with captain Nicholas Pooran (23). Bhuvneshwar Kumar was India’s most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 35 runs. Hardik Pandya, while bowling economical, took one wicket for just 19 runs in four overs. Avesh Khan once again proved to be extremely expensive. He conceded 47 runs in three overs while he did not get any success.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. The West Indies batsmen once again put the charge on fire as Myers hit fours and sixes in successive deliveries in their first and third overs of the innings. Shimron Hetmyer (20) hit 19 runs in the 19th over with two consecutive sixes on Avesh while Rovman Powell (23) hit Arshdeep for two consecutive fours in the final over. Arshdeep got Powell caught by Hooda while Hetmyer was run out.
