In his conversation with news agency ANI, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has indicated that India’s ODI series against Sri Lanka may be pushed to July 17. Significantly, the start of the 3-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka (IND vs SL ODI Series) was scheduled for July 13, while the T20 series from July 21. All the matches of this bilateral series will be played at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In such a situation, Sri Lanka Cricket Board can accept BCCI’s point of view in view of security.

Significantly, the last ODI match of the Sri Lankan cricket team on the tour of England could not be completed due to rain. After which the entire team returned to their country from there. At the same time, before the ODI series in the Royal London Series (Royal London Series England vs Pakistan 2021), 7 members of the England cricket team (3 players and 4 supporting staff) were found to be COVID positive in the RT PCR test, after which the ‘England and Wales Cricket Board’ ‘ quarantined the entire team and formed a new team of 18 players under the captaincy of Ben Stokes.

Ever since the players of the England cricket team were found to be corona positive, it was believed that the Sri Lankan team has also been infected. For this reason, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board sent the entire team directly from Colombo Airport in a bio-bubble and sent all the players to the quarantine. In such a situation, if a player is found to be Corona positive in a 5-day quarantine, he will be quarantined under the isolation protocol and the rest of the players will be sent to play the limited-overs series against India.
