
New Delhi: India on Friday sent back 17 Pakistani nationals lodged in the country’s jails to their homeland. Here the Pakistan High Commission gave this information. “Following the tireless efforts of the Pakistan High Commission, Pakistan Foreign Ministry, and cooperation from the Indian side, 17 Pakistani nationals lodged in jails in India were repatriated today through the Attari-Wagah border,” the Pakistan mission tweeted. It said, “Our efforts in this direction will continue to ensure that all Pakistani prisoners return from India after completing their sentences.

On January 1, India shared with Pakistan the lists of 339 Pakistani civilian prisoners and 95 Pakistani fishermen lodged in jails in the country. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information in a statement. It had said that Pakistan had shared lists of 51 civilian prisoners and 654 fishermen in its custody, who are Indians or believed to be Indians.
