New Delhi: Senior Director of Medanta Hospital Dr. Sushila Kataria on Friday warned the people that the situation of COVID-19 will worsen in the next two weeks as the third wave of coronavirus disease has already started. has affected India. According to the Ministry of Health, so far 3,007 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country, out of which 1,199 have been cured.
Speaking to ANI, Dr. Kataria, who has treated several patients of COVID-19, said, “No one can be happy as the situation will worsen in the next two weeks.” COVID is not just the flu that will pass. We have seen from January 4 that the third wave has already knocked in the country. The number of cases has increased almost five times in the last three days. Another fact is that it is less severe than the Delta variant. But it cannot be completely ruled out as every 10th person was hospitalized during the second wave.
Dr. Kataria said that even every 50th or 100th person was dying because of the delta variant. In this case, the number of people hospitalized is only 50 percent less. Even these numbers are quite good, but for other girls who are in the healthcare system, they are quite worrying. He said that it may be a mild virus for us, but we cannot be satisfied that it will not do anything. Let me tell you that people all over the world have died due to Omicron. So, it is not just a vaccine or just the flu, which will be over. Have to be careful at all times.
On testing the Omicron variant, Dr. Kataria said that the COVID infection is detected only through RTPCR or antigen or rapid. But if in today’s time if someone has respiratory problems, diarrhea, or just body pain, then it is considered related to COVID. Such people isolate themselves and get tested immediately. RTPCR will know whether it is COVID or not. But to know whether it is Omicron or not, you will have to do some more tests. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday that 1,17,100 new Covid-19 cases were found in India during the last 24 hours. With this, the daily positivity rate in the country increased to 7.74 percent. With this, the country’s COVID-19 case figure has gone up to 3,52,26,386.
