Farmers Protest Reaches 200 Days

New Delhi: Saturday marks a significant milestone as the farmers’ protest reaches its 200th day. To commemorate this, farmers are gathering in large numbers at the Shambhu border. The event will also see the presence of Olympian Vinesh Phogat, who has arrived to show her support for the farmers. Protests are planned at the Khanauri, Shambhu, and Ratanpura borders.

Farmers have been camping at the Shambhu border since February 13, when police prevented them from marching to Delhi. Their primary demand is a legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops, among other critical issues. Vinesh Phogat, a prominent sports personality and supporter of the farmers’ movement, will be honored by the farmers during the day’s events.

A Peaceful Yet Intense Protest

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher emphasized that the protest is being conducted peacefully but with great intensity. He mentioned that the government is testing its resolve, and their demands remain unmet. “We will once again put forward our demands before the government, and new announcements will also be made,” Pandher stated. He highlighted that reaching 200 days of protest is a significant achievement.

Call for Action Against Kangana Ranaut

The farmers have also demanded strict action against Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut. They have urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take a firm stand against Ranaut, whose comments have previously sparked controversy and protests among the farming community.
