Center accepted the third wave of corona in country, said – situation is better than second wave

New Delhi: The Health Ministry on Thursday compared the second and third wave of the Covid epidemic in India and told about the difference in the figures of deaths and vaccinations. The Ministry of Health has described the recently increased corona cases as the third wave for the first time. The government said that 94 percent of India’s adults have been given the first dose of the Covid vaccine, while 72 percent have been fully vaccinated.

The government said that in the age group of 15-18 years, 52 percent have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine. He said that there are more than 50,000 Covid patients in 11 states/union territories of the country and 515 districts have recorded a weekly infection rate of more than five percent.

On the Covid situation of Delhi, the government said that the number of patients admitted to the hospital in the third wave is much less as compared to the second wave of Covid-19. The government said that people in the age group of 11-18 years in Delhi have common symptoms of upper respiratory tract coronavirus infection, while about 99 percent of adult patients of Kovid have common symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat.

  • Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Delhi, and Rajasthan are reporting the maximum number of cases daily.
  • In the week ending January 19, the weekly positivity rate was more than 5% in 515 districts of India.
  • Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that on 30 April 2021, when the second wave was at its peak in India, 3 lakh 86 thousand 452 cases were registered in the country and 3,059 deaths occurred while the active cases were 31,70,228. In this, the people who got both the vaccines were only 2 percent.
  • At the same time, today i.e. on January 20, 2022, there are 3,17,532 new cases, 380 deaths, and 19,24,051 active cases in the country. Whereas the proportion of people who have got both vaccines is 72%.
  • ICMR Director-General Dr. Balram Bhargava said that due to vaccine coverage, serious cases are not being seen in India in the third wave.
  • NITI Aayog member VK Paul said that the positivity rate in the country is 16 percent, which is very high. This is because of Omicron.
  • The Union Health Ministry also showed the difference between the second and third wave in the capital Delhi, according to which there are currently sufficient number of Kovid beds in hospitals in Delhi.
  • The Health Ministry said that adequate Covid-19 testing is being done in the country. Rajesh Bhushan said, “The figures for a day do not show any trend. If there is a day, less testing and less number of infections, then it is not of our use, we present the data by the week, in which the actual The picture emerges.”
