New Delhi: In the case of Food Safety, two states of South India made their place in the top 10. Kerala is the safest and Tamil Nadu is the third safest state in terms of food. As far as the second most secure state is concerned, it is Punjab. Both the states of Kerala and Punjab have made a big jump this time in the Food Safety Index. The 5th Food Safety Index was released by the Central Government on Thursday. Kerala and Punjab are first and second in the list of big states, while Tamil Nadu has made its place at number three.

Talking about the 8 small states in the Food Safety Index, Goa has topped for the fourth time in a row. Manipur and Sikkim have been on the second and third respectively. Among the Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir have been at the top level for the third year. Delhi stood second and Chandigarh stood third. This list is issued on the basis of the evaluation of different parameters. In terms of food and drink, the performance of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, and Jharkhand in big states has been very poor.

Apart from this, 260 districts of the country were included in the Food Safety Index. Out of these the top 6 districts are Coimbatore, Bhopal, Varanasi, Malda, Gwalior, and Lucknow. FSSAI will train 25 lakh food business operators in the next 3 years to improve food quality. With this, the standards of food quality in the country will be fulfilled. Along with this, a target has also been set to establish 100 food streets across the country.

Let us inform you that in the last year 2022, the Food Safety and Drugs Commissionerate was formed by combining Food Safety and Drugs. Full-time Food Safety Commissioner was appointed. Presently there are 105 Food Safety Officers. At the same time, the process of appointment for 298 posts has been started. Camps are also being organized in every district for license and registration.
