New Delhi: In a significant announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been unveiled. The selection committee, led by Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, finalized the 15-member team during a meeting in Ahmedabad on the 30th of April.

Rishabh Pant to Lead as Chief Wicketkeeper
In a remarkable comeback, Rishabh Pant has been named the chief wicketkeeper for the World Cup squad. Pant’s selection comes after a period of intense recovery and a return to form following a serious car accident during the Indian Premier League. His resilient performance has earned him the trust of the selectors to take on the crucial role behind the stumps.

The Squad’s Composition
The team, captained by Rohit Sharma, presents a blend of experience and youthful exuberance. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli are set to bolster the batting lineup, with Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson providing middle-order stability. All-rounder Shivam Dubey joins vice-captain Hardik Pandya to add depth to both the batting and bowling departments.

The spin attack will be spearheaded by Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, with Kuldeep Yadav’s wrist spin being a key asset. The pace battery includes Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Siraj, known for their ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s leg-spin magic rounds off the primary squad, promising to be a strategic element in the team’s game plan.

Reserves Ready to Step In
Shubman Gill, R. Singh, Khalil Ahmed, and Avesh Khan have been named as reserves, ready to step in should the need arise during the high-octane tournament.
