Tokyo: The Foreign Minister of the Quad Group will discuss China’s aggression in a meeting to be held in Tokyo on Tuesday. This quadrilateral organization named ‘Quad’ includes four countries in the Indo-Pacific region, India, America, Japan, and Australia (India, America, Japan, and Australia). Japan has hoped that the meeting will help increase the participation of the four-member countries on the ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific’ initiative focused on combating China’s growing aggression.
This is the first in-person meeting of foreign ministers since the Covid-19 epidemic. The meeting will provide a forum of discussion to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Australian Secretary of State Marisee Payne and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. Japanese officials said the Foreign Minister would discuss the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic and the ‘free and open Indo-Pacific’ initiative for wider security and economic cooperation.
