In 2020 US presidential elections, Indian-Americans had the highest voting rate

Washington: In the US Presidential Elections last year, 71 percent of Indian-Americans voted, the highest rate in the Asian-American community. This information has been given by the researcher to the current population survey data of America.

Researcher Karthik Ramakrishnan, quoting data from the current American Population Survey, wrote in his blog post that the 2020 election saw a significant increase in the voting rate of Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). He wrote, “In the 2020 election, the voting rate was highest among Indian-Americans and Japanese-Americans, and 71 percent and 66 percent of the total adult citizens exercised their franchise, respectively.”

Ramakrishnan wrote that in comparison to the 2016 election, the voting rate of Indian-Americans has increased by nine percent, while the voting rate of Japanese-Americans has increased by four percent. The largest increase in voting percentage in the Asian community has been in the voting rate for Korean-Americans and 60 percent of the community’s voters exercised their franchise in the year 2020, compared to 45 percent in 2016.

At the same time, there was a slight increase in the voting percentage of Filipino Americans and the lowest voting rate among Asian communities in the 2020 election was that of the Philippians.
