Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, a close aide of Imran Khan and Finance Minister, lost to former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate elections on Wednesday. Khan is also the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He had personally tried to win for his cabinet colleague. Gilani, a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), was the unanimous candidate of the opposition coalition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
