
Kochi: The death toll due to landslide in the Idukki district of Kerala has increased to 48. Giving information on this, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that 5 more bodies have been recovered from the debris, after which the figure of the dead reached 48. However, 1 dead body has not been identified yet. Pinarayi said that the work of evacuating the bodies after the landslide is still going on. Currently, 22 people are missing, who are being searched by the relief team.

The CM said, “Thank you Prime Minister Modi for sending the NDRF team for help after the Kerala floods and the landslides in Idukki.” He said, ‘A detailed report about the flood scenario in Kerala will be submitted to the Center soon.’
Eyewitnesses of the accident say that when the landslide occurred, they heard a loud sound. One person said that people were running to escape and water was running. The Chief Minister’s Office has approached the Indian Air Force to provide helicopter services for rescue operations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over this incident in Kerala. They have announced compensation. PM Modi tweeted, “I am hurt due to loss of life and property due to landslides in Idukki. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured wish to recover soon. NDRF and administrative officers are working, assistance is being provided to the affected.
