Beirut, Lebanon: In a significant escalation, Hezbollah has launched a fresh wave of rocket attacks targeting Israeli residential areas, expressing frustration over Israel’s ongoing airstrikes. The militant group fired 40 rockets from Lebanon towards Israel’s Upper Galilee region. While Israeli air defenses intercepted some of the projectiles, several rockets managed to strike residential areas. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
The situation between Hezbollah and Israel, however, shows no sign of de-escalation. In response to Hezbollah’s intensified attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has begun mobilizing reserve soldiers, signaling preparations for a potential ground offensive in Lebanon. This comes as tensions continue to spiral, raising fears of a broader conflict in the region.
Israel’s military command has been on high alert, particularly in its northern regions bordering Lebanon. The IDF has instructed Major General Ori Gordin, Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, to ensure his troops remain ready for rapid maneuvers and tactical action. Gordin personally inspected the ongoing training exercises of the 7th Brigade, reviewing the brigade’s readiness for combat in light of a possible ground assault.
This development follows Hezbollah’s unprecedented missile launch towards Tel Aviv just hours earlier, marking the first time the Lebanese-based militant group has targeted Israel’s central urban hub. The missile attack was a bold move by Hezbollah, signaling their willingness to expand the conflict to major Israeli cities.
In response to the growing threat, Israel has called up two reserve brigades to reinforce its northern front. The IDF emphasized that the additional forces will aid in sustaining its military campaign against Hezbollah, with the aim of neutralizing the group’s rocket-launching capabilities and minimizing civilian casualties in Israel.
The situation has raised concerns about the potential for an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah, a group with significant military capability and backing from Iran. As both sides brace for further confrontations, the likelihood of a broader regional conflict continues to loom large, with international actors watching closely.
Israel’s readiness for a ground assault marks a turning point in this ongoing battle, as the country signals its intention to take more decisive action against Hezbollah’s positions in Lebanon. The upcoming days are expected to be critical in determining whether the conflict remains contained or escalates into a full-scale war.
