New Delhi: There has been an uproar in the cricket world ever since the retirement of English all-rounder Ben Stokes from One Day International (ODI). It is believed that the players feel that due to the busy international schedule, they are now mentally and physically exhausted. Apart from this, due to more cricket, it is becoming very difficult for the players to play in all three formats. For this reason, it is believed that in the coming days, other players can also retire like Ben Stokes.
At the same time, Ravi Shastri, the former coach of Team India, has now given a big statement regarding this. According to Shastri, Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya can retire from ODIs after the World Cup to be held in India next year. Shastri says that 28-year-old Hardik Pandya can now focus his entire attention on T20 cricket. He adds that the former Indian cricketer also said that, not only Pandya, but many other players can do the same and start choosing their favorite format.
Talking to the media, Ravi Shastri said- ‘Test cricket will always remain important. Players are now already choosing which format of cricket they want to play. If you look at Hardik Pandya, he likes to play T20 cricket a lot. It is clear in Hardik’s mind that he does not want to play anything else. He can play 50-over cricket till next year’s World Cup in India. After that, you can see him going through the 50-over format. Apart from him, something similar can be seen with other players as well.
Shastri also said that, in the coming times, franchise cricket is going to dominate a lot. Franchise cricket is going to rule the world. Then how will you have international cricket? In such a situation, boards around the world will have to decide to cut international cricket.
