Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, the amount of subsidy received in the electricity bill will be deposited in the consumer’s account in the coming days. However, the consumer must first deposit the entire bill amount. Only then the relief from the government will reach his account. The Department of Energy has started work on this plan. It is initially being implemented in Vidisha, Jhabua, and Seoni districts. After assessing technical problems, this direct benefit transfer scheme will be implemented across the state.
Understand it this way
Like subsidy on cooking gas cylinders, the state is going to make the same arrangement on electricity connections. The maximum subsidy is available in the Chief Minister’s agriculture pump connection in the state. 92 percent of the farmers’ share is submitted by the state government directly to the power company every year. In the direct benefit transfer scheme, farmers will have to deposit the entire amount of electricity bill first. Of this, eight percent will be own and the amount of subsidy given by the government will be 92 percent. Later this 92 percent amount will be deposited in the farmers’ account.
Impact on domestic consumers
Similarly, the beneficiaries of Indira Griha Jyoti Yojana and Sambal Yojana will also have to pay the bill in full. The bill for such consumers, whose consumption is 100 units, at the current rate is Rs 634. In the subsidy, the consumer has to deposit a bill of Rs 100 only. After the implementation of this scheme, the consumer has to pay a bill of Rs 634. The government will deposit 534 rupees of subsidy in the account of the consumer. Similarly, if the monthly consumption is up to 150 units, the bill of Rs 918 will have to be paid in full. Later, the government will put 534 rupees of subsidy in the consumer’s account. Currently, the consumer only has to pay a bill of Rs 384.
The company collecting this information
The power company is collecting information about the Aadhaar card, mobile number, and land record, etc. of the consumer so that this scheme can be implemented properly.
Like domestic gas, there is a plan to apply direct benefit transfer scheme to electricity consumers. At present, the pilot project will start in three cities of the state. It is being started in two-three months. Based on this, it will be implemented elsewhere. Guidelines are being made regarding how the scheme will be implemented.
