New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday that more than 54.04 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been provided to the states and union territories so far and 1,09,83,510 additional doses are ready to be sent. is going on. According to the data available with the ministry, till 8 am, a total of 52,00,96,418 doses have been consumed including the wasted dose of vaccine.
A total of 2,55,54,533 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are still available with the states, union territories, and private hospitals, the ministry said. Accordingly, the central government is committed to accelerate the pace of Covid-19 vaccination across the country and expand its scope. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on June 21, 2021.
The ministry said that the vaccination campaign is being intensified through the availability of more vaccines, advanced information of the availability of vaccines to the states and union territories so that they can better plan and strengthen the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide immunization campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by making the COVID vaccines available free of cost. In the new phase of the COVID vaccination campaign, the government will procure 75 percent of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country and supply them free of cost to the states and union territories.
