New Delhi: The Indian government has banned 50 more smartphone apps that may be of Chinese origin. Although no official list of banned apps has been released so far, a report by ET Now has given this information by quoting sources related to the government. This is the first lot of apps banned by the government in the year 2022 after banning a total of 270 Chinese apps in the year 2020.

It is being said that a popular smartphone game named Garena Free Fire has already disappeared from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and hence it seems that this game may be included in the new list of banned apps in India.

Note that we are still awaiting official confirmation from the game’s distributor, Garena International. Also, so far neither Apple nor Google has issued any statement regarding the disappearance of the game.

320 Apps in Ban List!
Very little official information has been revealed about the complete list of banned apps. However, as per the ET Now report, the new list of banned apps mostly consists of clones of apps that were already banned in India from 2020. With 50 more banned apps, the total list of apps that have been banned by the Indian government can reach around 320.

Let us tell you that the Government of India had earlier banned many popular apps including Tiktok and PUBG Mobile. While PUBG Mobile somehow made a comeback in India, Crafton set up a new office and broke ties with its Chinese partner, but TikTok remains banned in the country.
