New Delhi: The IT Ministry has taken action against some channels and handles of social media platforms Twitter and YouTube. It is reported that he has been accused of publishing inflammatory material related to the fake cabinet meeting. The government has taken these steps after the complaint was filed by Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar. In December last year also, the government had ordered to block a large number of YouTube channels.

According to the Times of India, the ministry has taken action against 73 Twitter handles, four YouTube channels, and one game on Instagram. The report quoted sources as saying that these handles are linked to Pakistan. Also, information was given regarding this, a complaint was lodged by Minister Chandrashekhar. Information about the provocative video was first shared on Chandrashekhar’s Twitter handle, where a user requested him to “take action against a very violent video showing the PM”.

Chandrashekhar said that the ‘fake and violent’ video is in the public domain since December 2020. Responding to the request of the user, the minister said that work is being started on it. He later said that the Task Force on Safe and Trusted Internet has worked on the matter. Chandrashekhar informed, “Handles which were trying to share fake/inflammatory content on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram have been blocked.” The owners have been identified.

According to PTI news published on December 21, 2021, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that it has ordered the blocking of 20 YouTube channels and two websites in a coordinated effort with intelligence agencies, as they are involved in anti-India propaganda and Was spreading fake news. The ministry on Monday issued two orders, one directing YouTube to block 20 channels and the second-order blocking two news websites.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said, “The channel and website belong to a coordinated propaganda network operating from Pakistan and were spreading fake news about various sensitive subjects related to India.” This was being done for posting divisive content in a coordinated manner on topics like ‘Kashmir, Indian Army, Minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat, etc’.
